Fishing….

With close to 2,500km’s of coastline, fish and fishing is a big part of life in Mozambique.
These local fishermen used to go out in this little wooden row boat when the ocean permitted and usually came back with fish. For those brave enough you can even hire their services and expert knowledge.

What was interesting was their equipment was nowhere as sophisticated as some of that you see around yet it seemed to do the job every time!

The place we stayed at has quite strict rules on restricting the amount of fish caught by guests, no mussels and no reef fish which is really good as so many places don’t have these rules in place.
Now no restrictions required in our case as there were ermmmmm…….a lack of fish being caught by our men-folk, and boy was it not for a lack of trying! They did however come back with one or two very delicious King Mackarel, or couta as they are known.

PS. Please excuse my lack of fishing “jargon” as it is not something I profess to know anything about!!
